Pinson wins state-level speech contest!
Congratulations to John McIntire Elementary 4th grader Caroline Pinson, who was selected winner in the state-level "God, Flag & Country" speech competition, sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Caroline, 10, is the daughter of Kevin and Amy Pinson, and based her speech on her grandfather, Col. John E. Jackson (ret.) of Gallipolis (shown with his granddaughter). Col. Jackson served as a chaplain in the Army Reserves for more than 30 years. Caroline will now participate in the national competition on July 11th in Milwaukee, which coincides with the FOE's international convention!
DON'T FORGET: Free physicals this Saturday!
Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville / Sports Medicine Zanesville will once again offer free sports physicals for students entering grades 7-12 this Saturday, May 9th, at their facility at 2854 Bell Street (across from Northside Pharmacy). The event is from 8 a.m. to noon, but all students interested need to arrive no later than 11 a.m. These physicals will satisfy the OHSAA requirement for the 2015-16 school year, and are the only time they will be given FREE. This is a great way to take care of the requirement, even if you are planning to have a complete physical by your family physician later on. If you have any questions, please contact our athletic trainer, Steve Shroyer, at 740-588-4012, or via e-mail. You may also call Orthpaedic Associates at 740-588-1089 or send an e-mail.
Get in character, and get running!
The John McIntire Elementary PTO is sponsoring its first "Character 5K Chase" on Saturday, May 9th! The event – which includes a free children's "fun run" – invites you to also dress up as your favorite book character for your run or walk! Click here for more information.
