How will attendance and grading work for students in the Blended Learning Option program?
All students in the Blended Learning Option program must keep a “log” of their attendance and participation in academic lessons; this log must be “signed off” by a parent/guardian on a weekly basis and reviewed by the student’s assigned teacher(s). Academic lessons can be completed during independent study times that can occur during traditional school hours and days, as well as outside of traditional school hours and days (must be logged in to be counted toward attendance). The assigned teacher(s) may schedule a synchronized (live) remote meeting/lesson with students, which would most likely occur during traditional school hours during traditional school days – these meetings/lessons are mandatory for students and must be logged in order to be considered for attendance purposes. The assigned teacher(s) will also schedule “live” in-person (at the school) meetings/lessons with students, and these sessions are mandatory for students and must be logged in order to be considered for attendance purposes. Each academic assignment provided by the teacher will come with an established “due date.” Failure to complete an assignment by the required due date will come at a deduction to the grade without prior approval of the teacher(s). If a student establishes a “trend” of failing to meet due dates, failing to complete assignments, or a lack of attendance, this will result in a dismissal from the Blended Learning Option.
