ODE SEEKING INPUT TO IMPROVE SPECIAL ED SERVICES

The Ohio Department of Education is seeking input from parents and guardians who have a child with and IEP and who recieves special education services. For more information, and to access a direct link or QR Code to the survey, click the photo at right. Deadline for responses is May 5th.

BOARD TO MEET IN WORK SESSION

Our board of education will meet in a work session at 6 PM Wednesday, March 22nd, at the Administration Building, 956 Moxahala Avenue. The purpose of this work session is to discuss personnel, communications, programs, construction, and other items. There will be no business considered at this meeting.

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION BEGINS MARCH 20th

Zanesville Preschool will be taking new registrations for the 2023-24 school year beginning March 20, 2023. Three- and four-year-old children residing in the Zanesville City School District will be considered for enrollment,  as well as students who have not reached the age of 5 on or before August 1, 2023. Preschool enrollment packets may be picked up at Zane Grey Elementary, 711 Fess Street. Please contact the Preschool office at (740) 588-5687 if you should have any questions.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION DATES ANNOUNCED

The Zanesville City Schools will register students for Kindergarten starting March 20-31, 2023. 
 
Children who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2023, are eligible to register for Kindergarten. Register by going to the Zanesville City Schools’ website (zanesville.k12.oh.us) and choose Kindergarten Registration 2023-2024 under the PARENTS drop down menu. Then click the Kindergarten Registration link and follow the prompts.
 
Once the online registration is complete, you will receive a phone call from our District Registrar, Erica Van Kirk, to schedule a time to bring in required registration documents. Registration documents include registered birth certificate obtained from the Health Department, immunization records, custody papers (if applicable) and proof of residency (current utility bill, pay stub, lease agreement, etc.).
 
Ohio law requires that all students admitted for initial entry to school present written evidence that they have received — or are in the process of receiving — immunization against poliomyelitis (OPV);  diphtheria - pertussis - tetanus (DTAP); measles, mumps, rubella (MMR); Hepatitis B; and Varicella.  Children are required to have 5 DTAP, 4 Polio, 2 MMR, 3 Hepatitis B, and 2 Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccinations before school starts.

OPEN ENROLLMENT BEGINS MARCH 1st

Applications for students wishing to attend Zanesville City Schools through open enrollment in the 2023-2024 school year will be available at the Zanesville Board of Education, 956 Moxahala Avenue, and on the district’s Open Enrollment web page — https://www.zanesville.k12.oh.us/OpenEnrollment.aspx
 
Under the policy, students living in East Muskingum, Franklin Local, Maysville, Tri-Valley, West Muskingum, and any other school districts can apply to attend Zanesville City Schools.
 
Anyone requesting information about Open Enrollment should contact the Zanesville Board of Education, Student Services Department.
 
Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents are responsible for transporting Open Enrollment students to and from school or to an approved Zanesville bus route.
 
Completed applications will be accepted March 1 - 31, 2023. Applications received after March will be considered.
