The ZCS Exceptional Education Department serves approximately 950 students who have been identified as having disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA 2004). Services are provided in accordance with Ohio's Operating Standards for Children with Disabilities and the Special Education Model Policies and Procedures.
The department includes a director, a supervisor, intervention specialists (teachers), school psychologists, speech pathologists, classroom assistants, occupational therapists, and physical therapists. Additional services are provided through the Muskingum Valley Educational Services Center.
